I miss good film.

Doing a link-a-thon with a friend and watching a bunch of old trailers from the 80’s/90’s. Growing up on this stuff, it was just so good. Believe it or not, a lot of this stuff inspired me as a kid. It still does. Everything is 99% CG now, so it really makes me appreciate older film so much more.

I think it’s awesome you could get away with this and it would all make sense. Everyone wanted to be Eddie Murphy as a kid. EVERYONE!

loempiavreter said: Hi, loved your concept for Rainbow Nightmare shame the kickstarter failed and it has to be put on hold, I really love your character designs and hope they end up in a game someday :) Loved the whole cyberpunk atmosphere of Rainbow Nightmare, it looked like the obscure Cyber Doll for SEGA Saturn, I don't even like RPG's (i'm an arcade man) but your game as well has tingled my cyberpunk hunger. Keep on with the good work.

Thank you dood. All I can do is buckle down and try again later. I love the concept of technology and science and how it’s advancing at an alarming pace. We as human beings, I feel like we’re not evolving quite as fast. We can put a human on a different planet but not solve world hunger. It’s sort of my own personal representation of some of my views on the world in the form of robots and machines in a fantasy world. But it’s layered in a way that almost anyone can enjoy.

The game plays a lot into that, especially things like technology vs tradition. Thanks agains man, it’s great that the game can perk the interest of people not especially interested in RPGS.

GAME ONNNNN~

Anonymous said: Shame about the Kickstarter. Pleeeeease tell me you'll consider releasing the artbook :D

I would love to compile a bunch of the games concepts, show people the original characters, do some illustration, etc. Big artbook for people to check out, but yeah, all of that stuff is pushed way back(in the year 20xx…..). It’ll happen dude, but not anytime soon.

Plz take a Libra sketch at the beach as a minor consolation.

moonsside said: Hi friend. I know it's a strange question, but can you give me the email of Evan Pattison? I really loved the soundtrack of his game right now and am looking for someone to write some songs of my game too. Sorry for the bad english :c

Yeah, no problem.

epattison@gmail.com

Evan is a really great dude, a friend actually found him for me and I loved all of the stuff he did. Incredibly nice guy as well. From what I remember I don’t recall if he had a website or not. I’m leaning towards no, because I would have posted it earlier. But yes, dat be his email. I am sure he would be more than happy to find cool stuff to work on. Guy totally deserves it.

Treat him well, moonside…..treat him well…..

Concept Art(monster designs)

Just taking it easy and drawing a bit. Monster design is my favorite aspect because it allows you to have 100% freedom with the concepts. More stuff on the way, but I been pretty lazy, so.

Barkley 2 Kickstarter.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/talesofgames/barkley-2-an-rpg-sequel-to-barkley-shut-up-and-jam

Hey everyone. Barkley 2 has just went up on Kickstarter so you should totally go support it! It’s beautiful so far, amazing art by Frankie,Konix, Medieve. The Kickstarter has tons of content, neat rewards, so if you like indie games, you got to at least click the link once. Please.

I’m really happy for these guys, and I’m honestly proud of them. They deserve it, they work hard, they like game design, they’re all incredibly talented people. It’s really great to see people that I started game design with, in a community, grow and expand, and it’s really awesome. Everyone is still connected even though the community that everyone used to hang out and make junk is long gone.

So please, support this is if you can. I can’t stress enough how this is worth donating to. Goodluck, buds!

Game hiatus

Hey doods. I want to briefly touch on a few things that I might possibly get into later idk, but Rainbow Nightmare: Libra is on hold for however how long. If you don’t know, the Kickstarter was a failure, which I kind of expected but I want to give a shout out to all the cool dudes and gals who supported it. I really appreciate it.

But yeah, I need some time to figure out what to do with the game now since I can’t work on it full time. As far as the Kickstarter experience, it was pretty awful. It’s something I wouldn’t openly do twice. I get no joy in advertising or constantly debating with myself if I should stretch the truth. Some people can do that very easily, it’s just not something I’m comfortable with. The only thing I thought was really cool was finding people who got behind the project, got a lot of emails curious and interested in how everything works and what to expect. I really liked that, and I got to talk with some really nice people.

I don’t think it failing is that tragic. I mean of course I’m disappointed(wap wapp wap), but something that upsets me even more is having a game up and on the left of it you have a guy committing obvious fraud, getting rewarded for it and nobody even questions it. On the other side you have people using free resources which involve absolutely no work getting rewarded because people do not know it is free content. It’s pretty disgusting.

There is nothing you can do about it but just shrug, unfortunately. You might be thinking “lolujellyman” well, I mean not really. My own game failed on my own watch, it was my own shortcomings or whatever. That is reality, but like I said, people getting rewarded and getting a free ride for no work is the thing that people should be worried about. The more people who commit fraud with fake games the harder it will be for people to commit later on other projects because people will be skeptical because they’re constantly getting scammed.

This is pretty accurate based off advanced statistics (I just made it up but it looks accurate from my perspective)

I dunno man, it’s like, these people get behind you and support it out of their own pockets and that is how you thank them? use freeware material, use mock ups hoping to get a ton of cash. The least you can do is show the work. And yet a game like Moment of Silence is currently at 2k with 14 days left. Like, it does not make sense to me.

I do have a few game posts that I have been saving so I will be posting those very soon. Someone had asked about commissions and that is currently open since I have the game on hold for now. Best way to reach me is:

Inspiration Chart.

I did this earlier to get my mind off stuff. It was pretty fun, so I thought I would share my inspiration(I keep calling it 5 different things) tree. I didn’t have nearly enough room for everything sadly. These aren’t in any specific order. You’ll have to click the url because it’s kind of a big one.

When I look at the chart it reminds me of the people who inspired me to create and pass on those creations in hopes of other people being inspired from them. My friend was telling me how that was probably the last honest thing in this world and I kinda agree.

Moment of Silence

I saw the guy who created Middens post a Kickstarter through his Tumblr. While I personally feel like the gameplay is pretty rough from a design perspective, I can tell he has put hard work and a long time with his art into his projects and I really feel like he is trying to share something with people.

There are scammers and people trying to make a quick buck off Kickstarter at the expense of people believing in others ideas, and I know this is an honest project. You’re really supporting art and creativity with this one. People do enjoy the game as well, because he is using it as an expressive medium. It’s something different. Personally, it’s like an interactive art gallery with amazing content for me.

This is all I can do for the guy for now. Which sucks. Goodluck my friend and I wish you the best.
